There has been a bit of activity on the site, and a few things have been added to the server. I have some new advertising and a new software store. The software store I am only the front man so even if you are not too sure who I am you are working with a leading online vendor as the supplier for the software. You can access the store via the Link in the main Menu on the left of the screen

Check it out and happy shopping.

Hi

Joomla templates are a bit of a strain for theme at present. It seems there is a lot of variations about how a websiteshould layout and the templates don't conform to a consistent behaviour. I had a template that I was happy with the layout and graphics for, when it lost the plot and wouldn't display properly. That sent me back to look for another, of which I chose this one. Problem is there is a few things that have to go as it seems there is no roon for items on the right.

Never mind, at least it means some people get paid for a bit longer as it means for now Joomla is stilla stretch for the average non nerd to set up and manage.

Technical writing - Its hard work PDF Print E-mail
Written by Peter McLarty

In my daily work I often have to write technical articles, these are either presentations, training material, standards and work instructions and for someone who disliked learning English at high school, I find it a drag sometimes, not unlike many other technical people I know. For most technical people "writing sucks"

I am always looking for an alternate strategy a way to develop an article rapidly and deliver a quality product to my clients. After all if you have to read it I want it to be readable and useful, and for a presentation "interesting".

There is a lot if good information around but it ca be hard to find. One place I have found some assistance is with Steve Manning, now I have never met the guy, spoken to him or get a cent from telling you about him ok maybe I should try and get a cent from him if you like is ideas a lot. He has a strategy to write a book in 14 days, I have never tried it, but I read his newsletter from time to time and this one really stood out as it shows a useful strategy that I think could be applied to presentations,  Go read it and see what you think and no I don't murder anyone either at the start, the middle or at the end of any presentations.

If you have difficult writing for anything then if nothing else some of his ideas might prompt you to either get you started, create something of greater quality or just get it done quicker.

See ya round

I have just put together a new home server, good hardware is a relatively cheap item to buy these days.

A bit of Info

Intel Core Duo E2200

Asus P5KPL-CM motherboard

4GB RAM

It wont set any world speed records but it is sure going to be good for doing test installs of software

I have set it up with OpenSuse  11.0 64bit and it is real sweet
